Google Assistant is theoretically capable of giving you smart responses to all your queries. It is also quite capable of sorting your lives provided you have some clue of what you’re looking to do with it. When everything else fails, the Google Assistant can become your friendly neighbourhood companion when you’re down and out, or plain bored.
oogle assistant is now gradually rolling out to all Android phones based on Marshmallow and Nougat.

Here are 10 cool things that the Google Assistant can do for you.

1. While you’re going through your early morning routine, the Google Assistant can pitch in and offer time-based or location based reminders so you don’t forget to take the garbage out when you’re leaving the house.

2. You might want to start your morning with a quick cuppa (and a sumptuous breakfast) and while you’re at it, wouldn’t it be nice to have the latest in news and weather updates to be read out to you so you’re better prepared to face the world before venturing out? The Google Assistant can pull radio news reports from your customisable sources have them delivered to you through a simple say “Listen to news” or “What’s on the news?” command. For weather, it fetch you current local forecasts, long-term weather forecasts as well as weather specifics in a particular destination you’re planning a road trip to this weekend well in advance.

3. If you happen to be a sports buff, the Google Assistant can readily find information and trivia in relation to your particular interests and teams. For instance, saying “What’s the latest IPL news?” gives you a rundown of the latest headlines for your reading pleasure.

4. Everyone uses their phone as a morning alarm clock. The Google Assistant can just help you set it up in a more convenient manner. You can either set yourself a daily alarm or even schedule yourself a quick power nap by asking the Assistant to wake you up at so and so time. And you can do it all while conversing with it which (also) means that you might just want to be careful about the minor intricacies. If you’re looking to get up at 7AM, for instance, make sure that you’re very particular about the particular (morning or evening) time slot.

5. The Google Assistant can also find and play music for you, but app support is pretty limited at this point of time. In India, in particular, since services like Spotify aren’t available, you might just have to be content with Google Play Music and YouTube for anything and everything vis-Ã -vis music. While asking for a specific song or artist would ideally take you to YouTube, genre specific requests would be directed to Google Play Music.

6. You know the thing about Google Search? You’re using it almost all the time, unless of course you’re in China. The Google Assistant also adds a verbal dimension to it. All you have to do is ask the question, and more often than not the AI would respond with the answer you’ve been looking for. If not, it can always pull out a link to what is (in 8 out of 10 times) is the best source to answer your question. Also, it is fun to keep challenging the AI from time to time to see how that goes.

7. When you’re out and about, especially when you’re driving, the Google Assistant can help you make hands-free calls and send text messages.

8. Google Assistant can help you plan your ideal night out whether it be finding a fancy restaurant or reserving the same. It can also give recommendations if you’re short on ideas.

9. And while we are on driving, since the Google Assistant is fully integrated with Google Maps, traveling through an unfamiliar part of town or looking for traffic updates has never been easier.

10. Last but not the least; Google Assistant can also help you find translations for words (or phrases) from English into any other language that the Google Translate supports on the go
